Crazy Stuff

If I had made it until September 29 I would have successfully stayed in the United States for one full year without leaving.

But that's not happening.

Instead I'm heading with some friends to Haiti (Pétionville and Marigot to be precise). I have a friend with a vision and I have a God with a heart and I'm following them on an adventure.

And I'm excited.

A few months ago I met some people at Joey's house over some Caribbean Blue and we planned out a trip. People changed, plans changed, dates changes, locations changed and several weeks later I'm convinced that God is far more in control of this endeavor than any one of my team members - and that's a good thing. When God's in control, crazy stuff happens.

And I have a feeling - crazy stuff will happen.

Two other nurses and I will be teaching lessons on hand hygiene and disease prevention as well as first aid. Marigot is a big voodoo village and voodoo has some strange medical implications. Even great than that though, voodoo has strong spiritual implications. We're following God's footsteps and He's leading us into a spiritually oppressed place. I hope chains will be broken in lives of Haitians and in our own lives. I hope we get to love on people in a way that crosses language and cultural barriers. I hope we make friends and build lasting relationships. I hope we pave a way for Cafe Kreyol's involvement in that area. I hope we make a difference. I hope we listen to God's guidance.

Please pray.
